Ewake for Slack
Your AI production teammate, in Slack
Ewake investigates alerts and answers questions about your production systems. Ask it in a channel, a thread or a direct message, and it replies in Slack with what it found and the evidence behind it.
Ewake needs an Ewake account to work. If your workspace has none yet, Ewake replies with how to get one. Book a demo.
What Ewake does in Slack
Ewake is an AI agent for engineering teams. It connects to the tools that describe your production (monitoring, logs, deploys, code and incidents) and works where your team already talks about production: Slack.
Answers questions about production
Mention @Ewake in a channel or a thread, or send it a direct message. It reads your monitoring, logs, deploys and code, and replies in the same thread with what it found and the evidence behind it.
Investigates alerts as they arrive
Pick the channels where your monitoring tools post alerts. When an alert fires, Ewake investigates it and posts its findings in the alert's thread, often before anyone on call has opened it.
Joins incident channels
Invite Ewake to a new incident channel and it starts investigating right away. It follows the channel for a while, and picks up new facts that people post there.
Proposes the next step
An answer can carry buttons: create a pull request, tune the monitor, open an incident or write a postmortem. Nothing runs until you click.
How to set it up
- 01
Get an Ewake account
Ewake connects to your production tools, so each company gets its own account and environment. Book a demo and we set it up with you. Already a customer? Sign in to your Ewake dashboard.
- 02
Add Ewake to Slack
Click Add to Slack on this page, or open Integrations → Slack in your Ewake dashboard and connect from there. Slack shows the permissions Ewake asks for before you approve.
- 03
Connect your production tools
In the Ewake dashboard, connect the tools Ewake should read: for example Datadog, Grafana, your logs, GitHub and your deploy pipeline. Ewake only reads what you connect.
- 04
Invite Ewake to your channels
In each channel where you want Ewake, type
/invite @Ewake. Ewake reads messages only in channels it is a member of, and in direct messages sent to it. It can also join a public channel by itself when it needs that channel to answer a question or to post a message you set up, and Slack shows that join in the channel. - 05
Choose your alert channels (optional)
On the On-call page of the dashboard, pick the channel and the monitoring bot that posts your alerts. Ewake investigates those alerts without a mention. You can filter alerts, exclude some, and route the findings to another channel.
How to use it
What makes Ewake post in Slack, and where it posts.
| When | What Ewake does |
|---|---|
| You mention @Ewake in a channel or a thread | Ewake replies in that thread: first a progress card, then its answer. |
| You send Ewake a direct message | Ewake replies in the direct message. |
| A monitoring bot you configured posts an alert | Ewake investigates and posts its findings in the alert's thread, or in the channel your routing rules name. |
| You invite Ewake to a new incident channel | Ewake posts that it is on it, investigates, and follows new messages in the channel for up to 72 hours. |
| A scheduled report you set up is due | Ewake posts the report in the channel you chose. |
| You click a button on an Ewake message | Ewake runs that action, for example it opens a pull request, and replies in the thread. |
| You react to an Ewake message | Ewake records the reaction as feedback on its answer. It does not reply. |
In channels, Ewake answers only messages that mention it. The exceptions are alerts from the monitoring bots you configured, and new messages in the incident channels it follows. In the Ewake app in Slack you can also start a conversation with Ewake from its suggested prompts.
AI-generated answers can be wrong
Ewake uses large language models to read your data and write its answers. Its answers and investigations can be inaccurate or incomplete. Check the evidence it shows before you act on it, above all before you change production.
Slack plans
The Ewake AI agent in Slack's app container (the agent view with suggested prompts) needs a paid Slack plan. On a free Slack plan, everything else works: mentions in channels and threads, direct messages, alert investigations and incident channels.
Privacy and data
Ewake reads the Slack messages it needs: messages that mention it, direct messages to it, and messages in channels it is a member of. Each company gets its own Ewake environment, hosted in the EU, and Ewake does not use your Slack data to train AI models. The privacy policy explains what Ewake collects from Slack, how it stores it, and how to have it deleted.
